I regularly use Instagram to add a nice retro filter to a photo but if you’ve just taken the picture using the camera you’re limited to the crop and image size. However, I use 360 Pano and Microsoft’s Photosynth to take more engaging and immersive images. The workflow is quite simple – depending on light, movement and subject use either 360 Pano or Photosynth. While 360 Pano is great for taking quick panoramic images and Photosynth for more detailed images neither allow for image editing.

The new Photo app in iOS 5 has image cropping, it lacks any effective filters and image correction capabilities. This is why I use camera+ – it’s editing features are better than most – with several scene modes including Backlit, Sunset, Night and 1-touch effects such as Lomographic, lo-fi and many many more.
Sharing is also a breeze, with the images saved to the campl.us website, camera roll and the usual social sites – twitter, facebook etc.
Obviously, if you also have an iPad (first or second generation) you can connect your iPhone using the camera connection kit
