Kickstarter is the online threshold pledge system for funding creative projects. Kickstarter has funded a diverse array of endeavors, ranging from indie film and music tojournalism and food-related projects. I’m currently backing two of the projects -the Coffee Joulies and GoPano Micro for the iPhone both of which have already met their respective funding targets.
Great you think! Hardly.. Kickstarter uses the Amazon Flexible Payments Service, which enables the all-or-nothing funding method. Apparently no other credit card processor currently supports their requirements. This is where the problem starts for non US kickstarter backers as the Amazon Payments registration process requires a US address. An now the good news – the registration requirements are in no way connected to the method of payment which is odd. So, all you have to do is enter a duff US address (or even register with someone like BundleBox to receive a PO Box and accompanying ZIP code) and then proceed to the payment section where you’re free to select and use you credit card details for your home country.
So, non US kickstarters, start backing some projects!
